Assessment of trees utilises Visual Tree Assessment (VTA) methodology. The tree is methodically examined as far as possible - buttresses, trunk, branches and foliage. Any signs or symptoms of defects leads to a more thorough examination, possibly using specialized equipment or analysis in a laboratory.
Extreme climatic conditions cannot be predicted and absolute safety cannot be guaranteed with any tree. The assessment and any subsequent recommendations are based on the existing circumstances and are based on current arboricultural information and research.
Trees are living, dynamic entities and circumstances can change.
Owners of trees have a duty of care, which requires an ongoing appropriate level of professional inspection and assessment.
